Quit
Juicin’
In all
athletics, perhaps the biggest “scandal” that most mainstream media stations
decide to focus on is performance enhancing drugs. Most people associate performance-enhancing
drugs with anabolic steroids, which are almost always associated with “roid
rage” or violent frenzies of violence due to elevated testosterone levels. In modern times, many people believe and even
understand that competitive drive and financial success motivates athletes in
most every sport to train hard and attempt to gain whatever competitive edge
they possibly can in their respective sport.
In mixed martial arts competition, the drive to succeed and come out
victorious is no different than any other sport. In fact, due to the nature of one-on-one
competition, the drive and the temptation of taking performance-enhancing drugs
may be even more alluring. The measure
for whether or not male mixed martial artists are taking performance-enhancing
drugs is typically based on a urine test that measures the ratio of
testosterone to epitestosterone levels.
A normal, healthy male is known to have a testosterone to epitestosterone
level of 1:1. Most state athletic commissions,
including Nevada, allow levels of up to 6:1 for eligibility to compete in that
state. Any level beyond that 6:1 ratio
is when a fighter is known to be “Juicin’.”
At
FightStylez, we have come up with our own form of what “Juicin’” is, as depicted
in this brand new, customized, one-of-a-kind t-shirt that you won’t find
anywhere else! In fact, we want this MMA
fighter, who is obviously either naturally huge while being filled with rage,
or he may just be on “the juice.” A
picture is worth a thousand words, and based on what this MMA fighter is
displaying on this tee, his performance-enhancing “juice” of choice is orange
juice. He’s spilling it all over the
mat, and it’s apparently put him in a pretty angry mood. This t-shirt is not exactly a stand against
the use of anabolic steroids or other performance enhancing drugs in mixed
martial arts. Rather, it just
acknowledges what’s out there, and might be just poking a little fun at those
athletes who do choose to get on “the juice.”
Two words sum up what they all should start doing. We here at FightStylez recommend that they,
“Quit Juicin’.”
